Based at Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK, The Collaborative and Curatorial Practice research group provides a forum for research exchange between artists, academics and research students whose work addresses the limits and possibilities of curatorial and collaborative practices. As a part of their seminar programme, Lungs Project will discuss publishing as a tool to facilitate collaboration and build creative communities fundamental to the survival of artists and writers of colour. The presentation takes its title and ethos from Audre Lorde’s short essay “Poetry is Not a Luxury” (1985) and seeks to respond to the question, in what conditions creative collaborations and partnerships may occur as much as flourish?
